Community Service
Ash Long's ongoing community service includes work with Rotary, Freemasonry and Chambers of Commerce.
His newspapers provide financial/editorial support to many organisations including The Salvation Army, Christian Blind Mission International, Rotary International, Probus, Lions Clubs, Down Syndrome Association (Victoria), Royal Flying Doctor Service (Victoria).
Ash Long was presented with a shield of appreciation from Victoria Police.
Rotary International, Paul Harris Fellow
Ash Long was a Charter Member of the Rotary Club of Yea, which was chartered in 1986.
He was President of that club, 1993-94. He also served in positions as Director, Secretary and Bulletin Editor.
He was made a Paul Harris Fellow in 1993. The citation reads: "in appreciation of tangible and significant assistance given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations between peoples of the world".
Ash Long was later a Member of the Rotary Club of Rosanna.
Ash Long was made a Freemason in October 1978.
He is a member of the Ivanhoe Grammarians Lodge No 584, Melbourne, Australia.
He currently serves as Assistant Secretary.
Ash is also a Trustee of the Ivalda Masonic Temple Trust.
Ash Long was President of the Bayswater Chamber of Commerce and Industry, 1978-79.
Ash Long was President of the Preston and Reservoir Chamber of Commerce and Industry, 1980-83.
Professional Memberships
Ash Long was a Board Member of Allied Community Newspapers.
Ash Long was previously a Member of the National Promotions Committee of the Australian Suburban Newspapers' Association (now Community Newspapers Australia).
Ash Long was invited to be Judge of the Federal Awards, and State Awards, for Best Newspaper, for the Australian Suburban Newspapers' Association.
Ash Long was representative on Victorian Country Press Association for Leader Newspapers, and an award-winning member through his ownership of the Yea Chronicle.

Ash Long was a Member of the fund-raising committee for the Maroondah Hospital, 1979-80.
Ash Long was a Member of the Fund-Raising Committee for the Yea and District Memorial Hospital, 1991-93.
Ivanhoe Grammar School
